Five Things That Every Man Cave Needs To Have

You might think that all man caves need is a roof and four walls. It’s enough as long as it’s a place to get away from your busy life, right? That’s not right. We have standards, and we won’t settle for just about anything because we are guys. Even though man cave is pretty common these days, there are still some things that every one of them needs to have.

1. A chaise lounge

The most important thing in a man’s life for decades has been a comfortable couch. There was a couch even for Sherlock Holmes. In Thomas Mann’s books, the old-school German aristocrats all had armchairs where they sat after big meals with consuls (there are always consuls in those books). A chair is a must-have in any man cave. The good news is that it doesn’t matter what kind it is, how old it is, or what it’s made of. It will work as long as it has the right amount of softness and support.

2. A TV

Hisense posts a great blog that makes us think about how far TVs have come. Since the beginning, every man on Earth has been TV’s best friend. TV never lets you down, even when it does. You can always watch TV to pass the time and learn new things. When no one is around, TV is always there to keep you company. TV is meant to teach and have fun. The TV is there to give you a blue light when you’re about to fall asleep in your chair. You don’t have a man room without a TV.

3. A video game kit

Men are really just kids. There may be a hundred men in the world right now who are truly grown up, but the rest of us are still very much like children. Also, kids love video games. An Xbox is an important part of every man cave for this reason. It doesn’t matter what kind it is or even if it’s the newest one. Even if it can only be watched from a chair while hooked up to the TV. There are actually a lot of men who would rather play old systems than brand-new ones.

4. A game with an analogy

Even though computer games are great, every once in a while a man caveman will want to play a real game like darts or pools. Of course, you can also play foosball. If you choose a pinball machine, these can get pretty pricey and loud, which can be a deal-breaker. Still, a man room isn’t really complete without this kind of game. The truth of this statement becomes very clear if other men who visit your man cave are not as into video games as you are.

5. A Fridge

You own a man room just as much as your friends do. When your friends come over, you can’t spend the whole night running back and forth to get them drinks. In your man room, you need a fridge to keep drinks and maybe even cold cuts cool. There should always be a place to chill a few beers, even if you don’t have friends over very often. You’ll be in heaven if you can make it easy to reach from your couch.
