Hello, lovely organic mothers! I think we have—or will soon have—something in common! Prior to starting a family, I was all work and no recreation; I had a glass office in a corner, was always moving, ate fast food and the occasional salad, and seldom worked out since I never had the time. Things have progressively changed for me since I met my hubby. A change has occurred, and it’s for the better. I’m not sure if it was love or me being old enough to start reevaluating my life. I’ve begun to take better care of myself and my decisions, and all of a sudden, the life I was leading before felt so incorrect and unclear. Please hold the phone. Before you start criticizing me, let me clarify that I am not one of those women who give up their professions to support their husbands; I am still employed and successful as before; I have just refocused my priorities to include my health.
In any case, we are now fortunate to have three wonderful children, and John and I are doing all in our power to teach them to make good decisions from a young age and to realize that eating well will not only keep them healthy but also help preserve our beautiful planet. I wish my mother would stop letting me eat all those strange things and instead use celery sticks to chase me around the house! Additionally, in our family, healthy and organic options extend beyond just food; we discuss organic cleaning supplies, healthy exercise methods, clothing choices, the value of recycling, organic cosmetics, and everything else that makes up life.
Since the decisions I’ve been making are benefiting my family and myself much, I’ve made the decision to outline everything and (kind of) offer advice to anybody wishing to better their lifestyle, find balance in their life, and have a positive influence on the world.
Let’s get started:
Food is the first step
Food, of course, is the first step in the “transition” to an organic lifestyle. Discover the possibilities of your neighborhood farmer’s market and be astonished by how delicious all the fruits and vegetables are when they are grown organically. Additionally, keep in mind that the majority of organic farms are modest, family-run businesses that support the local economy by creating jobs.
Growing your own food is an additional step. Grow some vegetables and fruits yourself for the assured quality if you enjoy gardening and have a lovely area with rich soil. You are obtaining organically grown items that have retained all of their vitamins and minerals when the soil is chemical-free and nourished with natural ingredients.
It’s also critical to understand that eating organic does not equate to being a vegetarian or vegan; you may still eat meat, but make sure to get it from your neighborhood farmer’s market. Prepackaged and sent to stores, the meat is frequently expired or genetically modified.
I promise that your children will find it difficult to switch to harmful items once they are accustomed to the healthier ones. I occasionally buy junk food at the grocery store, but my kids won’t even touch it! Yay!
Choose natural household goods
Many of the hazardous chemicals included in the hygiene products we use on a daily basis—whether for cleaning or cosmetic purposes—are very poisonous to both people and the environment. Adopting hygiene products made of organic ingredients not only protects your entire home but also helps the planet live (a little) longer. Nevertheless, even if organic items are safe, it would be best to keep them out of the reach of your children and dogs and store them in the back kitchen cabinet. Our Golden Retriever, Bobby, had the bad habit of using his paw to unlock the bottom cabinet containing chemicals, nearly spilling everything (and, God forbid, becoming poisoned!). Fortunately, we caught it early and stopped it! I’ve learned the lesson!
Recognize the significance of recycling
Recycling is crucial for the environment and your entire family! Why? Recycling is our way of giving back to the environment, which has been providing for us all so well. Because of the current level of pollution, recycling and thinking environmentally are crucial components of an organic lifestyle. Be aware that recycling involves more than just throwing away your gadgets, glass bottles, and expired veggies; it also involves what you wear.
Although eco-friendly apparel might be rather pricey, you can save money and look great at the same time if you take advantage of the many sales and second-hand items available (don’t be too lazy to shop!). In addition, my youngest loves the fantastic, inexpensive baby clothes I’ve purchased online! It’s comfortable, well-made, and reasonably priced. Sincerely, my warmest recommendations!
Adopt natural cosmetics
In contrast to the “regular” cosmetics we keep on our shelves, organic cosmetics are often created from natural materials and are completely safe for the skin. Use powerful organic alternatives to replace the items you now use to care for your teeth, hair, skin, and body, as well as those of your children.
